San Jose


Malika Junaid

Malika Junaid, an award-winning architect, is a founder and principal of M●Designs Architects in Los Altos, California.  Malika has won several architectural awards for her work that include awards from the prestigious META Remodeling Awards from NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), as well as an Environmental Quality Award from the City of Menlo Park, California, for the most sustainable single family home in the city.  Malika’s design work has been featured in many local and international TV and print media including the San Jose Mercury News, Los Altos Town Crier, Gentry Magazine and Eichler Network.  In 2009, Malika founded Green Learning Institute in California, which helped communities establish environmentally sustainable building practices through ongoing training and education. In 2010, Malika co-founded Pakistan Green Building Council, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting sustainable concepts and practices to transform the way buildings and communities are built and operated in Pakistan. This Council is now part of the World Green Building Council, the largest international organization influencing the green building marketplace.  In addition to her professional work, Malika is a Board Member and Charter Member of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America (OPEN) and is passionately involved in promoting entrepreneurship and business leadership in the Pakistani-American community. Malika is also devoted to supporting many charities focused on educating the younger generation of Pakistan, especially young girls.  She is currently a board member and President of the Silicon Valley Chapter of Development in Literacy (DIL).

Junaid Qureshi

Junaid Qurashi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SSJD Fund, an impact investment firm, investing in technology and renewable energy projects. Mr. Qurashi is a seasoned entrepreneur with 20 years of experience in founding and managing sustainable development and high-tech firms in Pakistan and Silicon Valley, California.  Prior to founding SSJD, Mr. Qurashi worked in strategic positions for many Silicon Valley companies, including VMware/EMC, Wyse/DELL and Phoenix Technologies.

He is also a founder and the Chairman of the Pakistan Green Building Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating sustainable building practices in Pakistan.  Mr. Qurashi also serves on the Boards of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America (OPEN), Karachi and Distinguished Innovations, Collaborations & Entrepreneurship (DICE): both organizations are dedicated to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan and in North America.

Mr. Qurashi holds an M.B.A from Santa Clara University, a Bachelor in Computer Engineering from California State University, San Luis Obispo and a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from Stanford University.

Rajesh Shah

Rajesh is an entrepreneur and investor with more than 25 years of experience in engineering & business development of semiconductors and systems.

Rajesh is founder and CEO of Sibridge Technologies Inc., a successful IP Solution company. In past, Rajesh was CEO of Strix Systems, prior to that CEO of Sibridge, IP and System Solutions group for Open- Silicon.  Rajesh has a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.  Saloni and Rajesh along with their children Mansi and Abhishek support various initiatives in area of education.


Steve and Anne Hayden

Steve and Anne are the parents of five children and grandparents of one. Steve began his career practicing law in San Jose, California after graduating from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. In 1995, Steve joined Almaden Country School as Headmaster where he served until 2007. He joined Apple in 2007 and is currently a member of the Apple University faculty.



Faran Rafiq

Faran Rafiq is a Senior Engineering Manager at Intel Corporation in Folsom. He has over 18 years of experience in various technical and management positions at Intel and currently manages multiple global Intel teams on three different sites. Faran has a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Portland State University and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore, Pakistan.


Madiha Sultan

With a background in Molecular Biology, Madiha Sultan has served at different Bio-tech companies as an RND scientist focused on various plant diseases.  Faran, Madiha and their 3 daughters frequently volunteer in local organizations focused on education and STEM in Greater Sacramento area.

Dr. Sayed Monis

Dr. Sayed Monis is a specialist in Neurology and Pain Management.  He graduated from the Ross University School of Medicine in 2002. Before that, from year 1993 to 1997, he was a Research Assistant consecutively in VA Hospital, University of Irvine and Specialty Laboratories. He then pursued and successfully completed Fellowship in Pain Medicine at California Pacific Medical Centre/Pacific Pain Treatment Centre/CPMC in San Francisco, CA. He was also affiliated with Neuro Spine and Headache Pain Management Centre where he was a Director in Pain Medicine. He was also involved in General Neurology practice and multiple pain procedures including Spinal Cord Stimulation.




Dr. Shazia Rafiq

Completed MBBS at Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan and won President of Pakistan’s Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance.  Completed Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at SUNY, Buffalo, NY.  Has experience in a wide spectrum of gastroenterology procedures. Has worked in various gastroenterology capacities including fellow, director, and attending physician.  Has presented at national gastroenterology meetings. Has many research publications in her field.


Asif Muhammad

Completed B. Sc. Civil Engineering at University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan.  Completed Master’s degree in Construction Management at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and Master of Business Administration at SUNY, Buffalo, NY.  Has experience in all aspects of real estate development including land acquisition, agency approvals, design, project management, and expert witness etc.  Has worked on projects sizes as small as a few million dollars to as big as one billion dollars in a range of industry segments including motorways, water supply, wastewater treatment facilities, community centers, high rise buildings, business parks, and chain stores such as Walmart and Rite Aid.  Director of special projects/infrastructure for South Denver Islamic Center.




Dr. Tariq Butt

Dr. Tariq Butt is a founding member of Access Community Health Network (ACCESS). Dr. Butt has served as the Deputy Medical Officer at ACCESS since 2007. Dr. Butt also serves as Chair of the Medical Disciplinary Board and is a physician consultant to the Bureau of Medical Integrity. Dr. Butt is a truly active and engaged member of Chicago’s civic and philanthropic communities, serving on several foundations. Dr. Butt is known for mentoring hundreds of students thought his 30+ years of medical career. Dr. Butt serves as an active voice in the Asian American community. He is the founding member of the Asian American Institute and Chair of the Chicago Lahore Committee of the Chicago Sister Cities International Program. Dr. Butt has received many prestigious awards including: The Loretta Lacey Advocacy (2003), The Horatio Alder Award (2002): was included into the Asian American hall of Fame (2002), The American Heart Saver (2002), The Chicago’s 1997 Big Hearts for Young Heroes and the 1995 Pan-Asian American Award. He lives in Chicago with his wife and three children.




Dr. Wasim Ahmar

Dr. Wasim Ahmar is a renowned cardiologist from Orlando. He is the Head of Cardiology Medical Center Orlando. He is also a Chairman and CEO of PEMR in Orlando. He graduated from King Edward Medical College Lahore and specialized in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He has performed many procedures including but not limited to Peripheral Artery Catheterization. He is very active in community as philanthropist.

Dr. Nadeem Tariq

Dr. Nadeem Tariq is a graduate of King Edward Medical College, now University Lahore, Pakistan. He graduated in 1989. Before that he studied at Cadet College Hasan Abdal, one of the most prestigious schools in Pakistan. After moving to United States, he did his research at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore and  completed his residency in Internal Medicine from Graduate Hospital Philadelphia, and Fellowship in Geriatrics from University of Illinois Chicago. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and established his group practice. Dr. Tariq has been active member of American College of physician. He is a member of ACP Nevada Chapter Governor’s Executive Council, Chair of both the Hospitalist’s Council and the International Medical Graduate’s Council. Aside from ACP, he has been involved as a volunteer in Socio-political and community service activities. He has participated in free clinics, feeding the homeless, introducing political candidates to community, arranging fundraisers for cancer hospital and victims of flood. ACP Nevada Chapter, in recognition of his services, awarded him with Volunteerism and Community Service Award in 2015. Currently he is working at University Medical Center Las Vegas. He is Vice Chairman of Department of Medicine and Member-at-large of the Medical Executive Committee, elected twice. He is involved in many important endeavors because he strongly believes in making difference in a positive manner for the community. He strongly believes that when you truly believe in what you are doing, it shows and it pays. Winners are those who are excited about where they are going and keep working hard to achieve their goals. He honestly believes that his wife and family are his strength and inspiration.

Nirav S Parikh

Nirav is an enthusiastic supporter and leader at United We REACH.  He has taken a leadership role in the NYC chapter and is proud to help make a difference in the lives of many children worldwide. His past volunteering activities include Make a Wish Foundation, Boy Scouts and local children sports leagues and PTAs.  Nirav’s career spans many parts of Wall Street on the sell-side and buy-side for both the fixed income and equity markets.  He is currently working in the equity group at Mutual of America Capital Management.


Kavita G. Parikh

Kavita is looking to impact the lives of children worldwide through United We REACH and is proud to be serving the NYC Chapter.  Kavita is a transplant from Southern California who brings her sunny warm nature to NYC where she was born. Her dedication to her two children and ambition to create better lives for all children motivated her to lead and mentor children at the Fisler Parent/Teacher organization and The National Charity League in Fullerton, CA.  In both organizations, she launched new programs as well as nurtured existing ones. She is a huge proponent of building stronger communities through volunteerism and gives time and money generously.


Teepu Sheikh

Teepu Sheikh is a co-founder of Life + Style Gourmet LLC.  Teepu is a serial entrepreneur, having started multiple successful companies in Textile, Design and food industries.  Mr. Sheikh is very involved in non-profit and charity work.   At the time of 2005 Pakistan earthquake he was on ground within days and remained on scene to help the injured, misplaced and affected people.  Mr. Sheikh is also an active contributor in educational pursuits for those less fortunate.


Dr. Ijaz Ahmad

Dr. Ijaz Ahmad, is an eminent cardiologist, an acknowledged entrepreneur, an outstanding humanitarian and noteworthy community leader in foreign land of pyramids of New York, United States. At present, he has been running numerous medical offices and urgent care centers along with his commendable community services. He has not only been serving communities here and back home in Pakistan multifariously but has also established political strength on behalf of Pakistani minority. He is the Chairperson of APPAC (American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee), which came into being with his efforts to unite Pakistani presence of political forum. He opted for pre-med in his high school and graduated as MBBS from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore. Ever since the days of his medical graduation he had immense inclination towards helping the poor and the under privileged. After accomplishing his medical graduation from Allama Iqbal Medical College, soon he flew to United States after getting through the mandatory examinations. There, he willfully chose to work as resident in Interfaith Medical Center, Brooklyn NY, owing to its predominant inclination towards the under privileged class of New York. After residency in Medicine he was fortunate enough to find position in the prestigious program of Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases in Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn NY. Immediately after the completion of his fellowship in Cardiology, he endeavored to work in different hospitals as well as established his own cardiac center in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. Tahir Javed

Mr. Tahir Javed is an accomplished businessman, philanthropist, investor, and television personality who adapted United States in 1989 as his home and settled in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from University of Punjab with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1987. He is the CEO & President of STARCO IMPEX, which was established in 1992 in Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas. His business has become as one of the largest distributors in the United States. He is also the CEO & President of RICELAND HEALTHCARE, Texas that was established in 2014 which is now fastest growing Healthcare provider service in South East, Texas.



Aizaz Manzar

Aizaz is the Vice President of Business Operations at Dell Inc. He has 16 years experience at Dell along with 3 years managing the family engineering business  in Lahore, Pakistan. His areas of focus include Business Transformation & Process Improvement,  Sales & Operations Planning, Product Management, Marketing Operations & Business Insights. He has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Science & Technology (NUST)  & an MBA from University of Texas at Austin


Ammar Abuwala

Ammar Abuwala

Ammar Abuwala brings over 27 years of experience and expertise in the travel and hospitality industry. Ammar’s passion towards his career has helped him succeed in various branches of this exciting fraternity. After earning extensive knowledge of this trade through his various positions in the past, he started his own travel & tourism company in 2009, now based in Missouri City, TX. His company, Reliable Travel & Tours Inc. boasts of major sub-contracts through consolidators with over 60+ international air carrier’s worldwide in all cabins of travel, cruise lines, customized vacation packages with various tour operators worldwide, serving all continents, including specializing in Authentic African Safari’s. The company has obtained bulk-fare air contracts with major carriers for all Business & First class air travel to most major destinations of the world. Ammar is a founding member of IMAGH (Indian Muslims Association of Greater Houston), a non-profit organization Fostering Amity across Cultures, Communities and Religions. Ammar & his family originate from Mumbai, India, he migrated to United States in 1989, and he lives in Houston with his wife, daughter and son.


Dr. Tauseef Salma

Dr. Tauseef has 20 years of experience in leading multidisciplinary, global teams in upstream sector of oilfield. Tauseef holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, Houston, Texas and a B.Sc from UET, Lahore, Pakistan. She is a member of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).  She is on the Advisory Board of Rice U for Professional Science Masters and Energy Advisory Board for Univ. of Houston. Tauseef has also served for over five years in leadership roles in two non-profit organizations, dedicated to education of children and professional mentoring and development.
